In a recent BuddyTV article, we initially assessed the contestants on Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious. Basically, it was just based on not much more than appearances and their initial published profile, which included their musical tastes. In the reality television world, this is quite scientifically valid. Now, we have a little bit more information for us to speculate on how they will fare on the reality competition. Too bad it won’t be enough for us to speculate about their singing and dancing skills and their ability to start a catfight. Nonetheless there are a few things we could pick up from the videos and some preliminary guesses on who might not make it past the first episode.
Robin Antin has noted that this group will be more hip-hop and urban than the Pussycat Dolls, thus this might be bad news for a couple of contestants. one of the interview spots featured Carrie referring to a performing persona, “Rock Star Carrie.” Too bad you didn’t get into the reality search for the next rock star, instead of Girlicious. In fact, her look is more like Debbie Harry than Christina Aguilera. Ilisa is another one who seems to be portraying another genre than hip-hop or R&B. She was asked about any special talents that she might have, and she answers in a thick, British accent. The first thing that comes to mind? Musical Theater. Off you go, Ilisa.
The video shows merely seconds of a few of the girls, but there were some who managed to show off their charisma in that small time frame. Does this mean that they have enough stuff to command the stage and its audience?
Some of the ones who stood out were Alexis, Tiffanie and Jenna, while Natalie Chrystina and Keisha stood out to a somewhat lesser extent. The other girls are surely cute, but do they have what it takes to make it far in the competition? We’ll see in tomorrow’s premiere of Pussycat Dolls Present: Girlicious.
